Who We Are
Soroptimist International is a global women’s organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Our years of experience working with women and girls has taught us that education is the key to unlocking economic empowerment. When women and girls are educated they have opportunity, choices and power to make healthy decisions for themselves and their families.
What We Do
Locally, in addition to supporting Soroptimist-wide programs, the North San Diego and Poway Soroptimist clubs work together on a Transitional Housing Program for domestic violence survivors. This 18-month program moves families from dependency and abuse to a safe, self-sustaining life by providing housing, mentorship, and financial help. Since 1997 North San Diego and Poway clubs have helped 71 moms and 171 children. The proceeds generated by Hats and Heels makes this and our other programs possible.
